An Accident

One sunny afternoon, when I was merrily riding home, I heard “Help! Help!”. I rode to the riverside and found a boy of about five in the river struggling. I jumped into the water, swam to the boy and dragged him to the river bank. The boy said he was trying to catch a fish near the river bank and carelessly fell into the water. I asked him where his home was and sent him home. “Thank you very much!” the boy's parents said, when I left his home. Though I got home late that afternoon, I was very happy.

注释:

1)a boy of about five

2)to find a boy in the river struggling

3)I asked where his home was.

Last week, I witnessed a car accident on my way home from school. It was a sunny afternoon, and the streets were crowded with vehicles and pedestrians. Suddenly, I heard a loud screech of brakes followed by a crashing sound.

I quickly turned my head and saw two cars colliding at an intersection. One car had run a red light and crashed into the side of another car. People nearby rushed to the scene, yelling and trying to help. I immediately dialed the emergency hotline to report the accident.

Fortunately, no one seemed seriously injured, but both cars were badly damaged. The drivers of both cars were visibly shaken and upset. The police arrived shortly after my call and began directing traffic and collecting information from witnesses.

I stayed at the scene to provide my account of what happened. The police asked me questions about the accident and I answered to the best of my ability. It was a chaotic scene, with the sound of sirens and the flashing lights of emergency vehicles.

After some time, the tow trucks arrived to remove the damaged cars from the road. As the cars were being towed away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that no one was seriously hurt in the accident.

Witnessing this accident made me realize the importance of obeying traffic rules and staying alert while driving. It also reminded me of the fragility of life and how accidents can happen in an instant. I hope that everyone involved in the accident learned a valuable lesson and will drive more safely in the future.
